Biography

Chinua Achebe was a Nigerian novelist, poet, professor, and critic who is regarded as a central figure of modern African literature. His first novel, "Things Fall Apart" (1958), is considered a masterpiece of world literature and has been translated into more than 50 languages. He used his writing to challenge colonial narratives and celebrate African culture. His work gave voice to the African experience and inspired generations of writers.

Life Story

Born in Ogidi, Nigeria, Achebe attended the University of Ibadan, where he studied English literature. He worked for the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation before his writing career took off. He published his first novel at age 28. He went on to write five novels, numerous short stories, essays, and poetry. He taught at universities in Nigeria, the United States, and the United Kingdom. He received numerous awards, including the Man Booker International Prize in 2007.
